Żubroffka International Short Film Festival 2022 Winners

Lebanese short film Warsha from director Dania Bdeir won the Grand Prix of the 2022 Żubroffka Festival on Sunday. Kosovan director Samir Karahoda picked up the 1st Prize in the International Eastward Window Competition for his film Pa Vend/Displaced. There were more winners, among which Mark Albiston with the 1st Prize in the International Whole Wide World Competition for the film Datsun and Michał Toczek with the 1st Prize in the National Fiction Competition for the film Martwe Małżeństwo/A Dead Marriage.

Honorable Mention for Cinematography: Moody by Karolina Karwan and Tomasz Ratter (Poland)

Prize for Best Music: Diabeł/The Devil by Jan Bujnowski – Music by Jan Bujnowski and Bogdan Klat (Poland)

The Main Jury consisted of Nadja Andrasev (Hungary), Michał Marczak (Poland) and Sasha Prokopenko (Ukraine).

1st Prize in the On the Edge (On the Border of Experiment and Video-Vrt Competition): Precautionary Measure by Lizzy Deacon and Ika Schwander (Netherlands)

Honorable Mention: The Sower of Stars/El Sembrador de Estrellas by Lois Patiño (Spain)

The On the Edge (On the Border of Experiment and Video-Vrt Competition was made up of Ewa Szabłowska (Poland), Teresa Vieira (Portugal) and Peter Cerovšek (Slovenia).

Prize for Best Music Video Competition (awarded by the Audience): Residente: This Is Not America by Gregory Ohrel (USA)

Wild Bison Award – The Audience Award of the 16th Zubroffka International Short Film Festival: Martwe Małżeństwo/Dead Marriage by Michał Toczek (Poland)

Prize for Best Short Film in the Midnight Shorts Competition (awarded by the Audience): Stuffed by Theo Rhys (UK)

Prizes for Best Short Film in the Kids Competition (awarded by the Young Audience) were given out in the following four categories:

KIDS 6+ Prize: Piccolino. Una Aventura en La Ciudad by Giovanni Maccelli (Spain)

KIDS 10+ Prize: Fundamentals of Art by David Payne (Czech Republic)

KIDS 12+ Prize: Friend by Andrey Svetlov (Belarus)

KIDS 15+ Prize: Untitled Project/Bez Tytułu by Kacper Buratyński (Poland)

The Young Jury was made up of Marcin Radomski (president), Amelia Klimiuk, Dominik Lubowicki, Eliza Kowalczuk, Julia Abramowicz and Zofia Ostrowska.

Prize for Best International Short Film (awarded by the Polish Journalist Jury): The Seine’s Tears by Yanis Belaid, Eliott Benard, Nicolas Mayeur, Etienne Moulin, Hadrien Pinot, Lisa Vicente, Philippine Singer and Alice Letailleur (France)

Honorable Mention: Handbook by Pavel Mozhar (Germany/Belarus)

The Polish Journalist Jury consisted was made up of Kuba Armata, Typowy Jędrzej and Bartek Przybyszewski.

One hundred twenty-two movies chosen from a record number of four thousand five hundred submissions from around the world (including Algeria, Botswana, Vietnam, Colombia, Chile, Philippines, Peru, Sri Lanka, Uruguay, Panama, Zambia, Uzbekistan, Syria, Singapore, Tajikistan, Hong Kong, Nigeria, Malta, Nepal, Cambodia, Ivory Coast and Luxembourg) competed in nine ZUBROFFKA completions.
